Heather Carroll, Interim-President
Heather Carroll was invited to join the Tumaini Board in the spring of 2003 by her friend Sue Newton, a founding board member. Although at that time, Heather had not yet met Eunice, it didn't take long before Tumaini became a family affair (her husband Gil served on Tumaini's board and helped to develop and manage the website for 6 years; daughters Emma and Sarah were able to join them on a Tumaini trip in June of 2010 and then Emma again in June of 2011). They are all hooked!
Heather has worked for the past 25 years as an occupational therapist in various settings, leading her husband and her to Thailand for three years’ work with NGO's. In one instance, she was case manager for African refugees and asylum seekers coming into Bangkok for legal aid and support. She has worked the last ten years for the Douglas County School District, serving special needs students. Advocating for children and supporting families and teachers are true passions of hers.
