Shawn DeBerry
Growing up in PA, Shawn DeBerry enjoyed a professional modeling career and serving in the US Army prior to living in Colorado. She traveled to Tumaini after becoming a board member in November 2006. This solidified her belief that supporting our children benefits the future of not only a child but also a continent.
Shawn is passionate about collaborating on social and political issues concerning the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens in CO. She was a 2010 recipient of The Kaleidoscope Project’s African American Leadership Award, and a 2011 Nominee for the Women of Hope award. Her current service work includes The Commission on Homelessness (an appointed position by former Mayor John Hickenlooper) among others. She is currently employed as Community Coordinator for the Denver Rescue Mission, the Mayor’s Clergy Council, the Governor’s Council and the Denver Leadership Foundation – a collaborative effort under Denver’s Road Home initiative to end poverty.
